The first thing to know about downloading jScompass is that it comes in two forms.  The Standard Edition is for most people.  There is also an Island Guide Edition for Island Guides.  This version is password-protected.

jScompass Island Guide Edition

Installing or Upgrading jScompass

To install jScompass, simply run the installer .EXE file.  The installer will default to selecting the most recently installed There client location, so be sure it’s correct if you have more then one copy of There on your PC.  By default, this folder is normally C:\Makena\There.

If you use other patches, please ensure that you install jScompass last so that its files are not overwritten by other patch installers.

To access the compass configuration XML file, an icon called “Edit jScompass Config” will be added to your There program group under “All Programs”  If you are upgrading, the older configuration file will be renamed to jscompass-config.old.xml.  If you have customized this file, you will need to copy and paste the commands into the new configuration file.
